Engulfing strategy provides information for traders to enter the market in anticipation of a possible reversal in trend. Engulfing candles tend to signal a reversal of the current trend in the market. This specific pattern involves two candles with the latter candle "engulfing" the entire body of the candle before it. The engulfing candle can be bullish or bearish depending on where it forms in relation to the existing trend. The script calculates and compares values of the price action candles to define is there an engulfing and what type it is: bullish or bearish
If there is a bullish engulfing the indicator fills price action candle with yellow color
If there is a bearish engulfing the indicator fills price action candle with purple color
Advantages of the script:
1. The script detects presence of both types of engulfing: Bullish and Bearish
2. Weak engulfment signals and market noises are filtered by RSI bands and DMI confirmations. This allows to receive only strong and confirmed engulfment signals
3. This script has configurable risk management settings (order size, commission, take profit, stop loss and trailing). This provides you opportunity of direct broker connection and allows to conduct backtests before applying the strategy to real account. You also can set up strategy actions alerts
At the chart you can see the historical price action of ADAUSDT at Binance exchange from the January 1st 2019 till current date. The strategy is set up to receive only long signals because it is a spot market. Moments when the strategy triggered to enter a position are shown as L label while position entries are shown as "Long" messages. Moments when a certain position should be closed are shown as "Exitlong" messages
The strategy demonstrate high backtest results:
Mathematical expectation of risk management settings is positive = 1.34%
Percent profitable = 93.33%

How to use?
Long signals:
1. Apply indicator to a trading pair your are interested in.

- This is the percentage above the current average you'd like to place your position close at.
DCA When %
- The percentage below your last entry that you're willing to buy again.
Note: This strategy has no stop-loss and pyramiding is enabled. It is not built for, or recommended to run live.

TRM StrategyThis is a strategy version of the "True Relative Movement" script:
It is virtually identical to the original script, except now you can back test different conditions and parameters.
TRM has 3 different conditions:Buy (Blue Bars), Hold/Take Profit (Gray Bars), and Sell (Pink Bars).
This script is only coded for Long only condition. It will exit the position when there is a sell signal, no take profit parameters are coded.
The example backtest results shown are on $AAPL with a starting Capital of 10k, with each trade investing 10% of capital. I cannot show results vs buy and hold (meaning re-investing 100% of capital) as this is against house rules. However, I HIGHLY encourage you to experiment with different trade parameters, time frames, symbols and settings for TRM. You will find that certain time frames perform better under different TSI and RSI settings. The "Slower paced trader" can use the "Slow settings" for TRM ( Instructions embedded in the settings window). This will produce less signals ect.... I am personally, constantly finding different settings that work for different ETF's, symbols ect...
As a discretionary trader, it is important to have a system that has an "edge". That is what the script is meant for... finding an edge to help you make sound trading decisions and help you manage risk accordingly.

📊 SIGNALS
This script will generate complex trading recommendations, both Long and Short (signals); signals include:
- Entry Point:
Calculated based on pivot levels with confirmation by EMA/SMA (you can select this in the settings); also bullish/bearish cup is checked to confirm the entry.
Additionally, in the settings you can enable Heiken Ashi calculation mode (it shows much better on some trading pairs).
Why do we mashup these components and how they work together?
- The main indicator in our script is pivot levels, it is enabled by default and cannot be disabled. Auxiliary indicators (which you can switch on and off in the script settings) are EMA/SMA and Heiken Ashi. We have used pivot levels, which mark potential support and resistance zones based on previous price action. We have also used EMA/SMA that smooth out price fluctuations and show the direction of the trend. We have added an option to use Heiken Ashi that filters out noise and highlights the trend. We have also checked for bullish/bearish cup patterns, which are reversal patterns that indicate a change in momentum. By combining these indicators, we have created a more robust entry point that considers multiple factors such as price levels, trend, noise, and momentum.
- 6 Take Profit levels:
It is also possible to change in the settings (It is also possible to change the values for Short or Long positions separately), it will be fixed values in % (The default Take Profits for Long&Short are as follows: TP1-0.3%; TP2-1%; TP3-2%; TP4-3%; TP5-7.5%; TP6-16.5%)
- Stop Loss Level:
As with Take Profits, this is a fixed % value that you can customise to suit your risk management needs (It is also possible to change the values for Short or Long positions separately, by default is 4.5% for Long&Short positions)
*When trading on these signals, we strongly recommend that you exit the position in parts at each take profit or close your entire position at one particular take profit. Our script was designed specifically for exiting a position on take profits
⚙️ SETTINGS
Now let's talk about the settings of this script, which allow you to customise the signals quite a lot. In general, we recommend selecting the settings for each trading pair and timeframe separately, this will allow you to achieve better targets accuracy (the default settings are universal, you can trade with them without changing them if you want)

1. Period - minimum value of 2. Increasing this parameter will increase the accuracy of signals, but will reduce their number (accordingly, lowering the parameter will do the opposite). For the majority of trading pairs and timeframes the optimal period will be between 5 and 10 (the default value is 5).
2. Maximum Breakout length (in bars) - for most trading pairs you can set the value from 200 to 300 and it will be optimal. Below 200 is not recommended
3. T hreshold Rate % - this value also affects the accuracy and the number of signals - the higher this value is, the more often signals will be generated, but it can negatively affect the accuracy. The minimum value is 3, and the maximum value is 10. We recommend to try values in the range from 4 to 7 for most tickers
4. Minimum Number of tests - the number of level checks is required, we recommend to try 2, and only for some timeframes increase to 3
5. MA type & MA filter - The shorter the length of moving averages, the faster they react to trend changes, and show more local trends than global ones. If the length of MAs is longer, more global trends are shown. By default, the most optimal values are set.

Now let's talk about how to properly test the settings and evaluate their effectiveness. Our script has a c ustom built-in backtester that shows statistics on the current trading pair and allows you to calculate the accuracy of each take profit target, as well as calculate values such as Gross profit/loss, net profit, and the ratio of initial deposit to profit. (you can enable/disable backtester "statistics" label in main settings)
In the main settings you can change the values for: initial deposit (Deposit $), trade size $ and leverage (by the way, it also affects the display of the label "Peak profit", which is calculated with this leverage)

Now let's look at the backtester - it shows detailed statistics for each Take Profit level, including: accuracy in % and number of trades; gross profit & loss; net profit in % and $ (based on selected settings); deposit to profit ratio in % and $.
Why did we choose such properties in the backtest for publication?
- Well, as the initial capital we took 5000$ and deposit 3% (150$) of the initial capital in each trade. For the fee was taken the value from the exchange Binance, which is 0.06% per trade (Taker + Maker, for a user without VIP on Binance and without taking into account additional fees such as funding, leverage fees, etc).
- Please also take a look at our inbuilt backtester ( IMAGE ) which counts the accuracy to each Take Profit. Also note that our inbuilt backtester does not take any fees into account. Pay attention to the last field "Deposit with Profit" it shows the value if you would close all positions at a certain target. For example, we can see that the most optimal is TP3 at these settings for this trading pair and timeframe, as the deposit to profit ratio will be +61.2%
- Also the script is more designed for swing and long term trading, so on most trading pairs you will be able to see statistics for 60-90 trades dataset

The MACD alone generally gives too many false signals and is therefore often used in combination with different indicators. The basic idea to combine the MACD with a moving average on a higher time frame is a commonly used technique to only enter Longs in a uptrend and only Shorts in a downtrend while trading on lower timeframe charts. However, the main issue in many strategy scripts is that the HTF indicator is not visible on lower timecharts. With this strategy example I used the Dynamic Smoothing code to visualise the HTF MA filter to display on you lower timechart. This way it is easier to optimize the strategy settings to the instrument chart.
Orginality and Usefulness - Dynamic Smoothing
Visualizing a higher time frame on a lower timechart often gives jagged lines on your chart. As the calculation is done on less bars, compared to the bars you have open on your timechart. The dynamic smoothing factor is derived by taking the ratio of minutes of the higher time frame to the current time frame. This ensures the moving average remains fluid and consistent across different time frames, eliminating 'jagged' lines on your chart. This new MA value is then used as HTF filter on top of the MACD entry settings. Always make sure the time chart is equal or lower than the timeframe settings in the configuration settings. The intention of the script is to visualise the higher time frame confirmations while trading on a lower timechart.

Complete Strategy
The MACD and HTF moving average is used to determine when to enter a new position. However a strategy should consider more factors than only the timing of entering a trade. To complete the strategy I included:

This is merely an example how to structure a strategy and many different setups are possible.
The features in this script are explained below:
Different MA types
The script supports various MA types like EMA, SMA, DEMA, TEMA, WMA and HMA. You can select the MA type and different timeframe to your liking.
Risk Management Tool
Traders can choose to allocate their position size based on a percentage of equity or a fixed number of contracts. This feature ensures prudent risk management and helps traders align their position sizes with their risk tolerance. In the strategy -0.5 is equal to 50% of equity and 1.5 is 150% of equity used. Make sure to align the % of equity with your maxdrawn results with backtesting. Personally I don't want higher max drawdowns than 15%. For the strategy results the script considers 0.05 commission rate on each trade, to stay conservative. Take Profit Logic
The take profit logic in this script is designed for optimization, offering three distinct exit levels. Traders can customize these levels based on their risk appetite. The script allows adjustment of both the percentage take profit level and the position size, catering to individual trading strategies and objectives. The default settings closes 33% of the position when TP target is hit. The TP levels are simply calculated by inputting a % of of the entryprice.
Trailing Stop and Hard Stoploss
To mitigate downside risks and protect profits, the script incorporates a well-thought-out trailing stop mechanism based on the Average True Range (ATR). This dynamic trailing stop adapts to market volatility, allowing traders to secure gains while letting profitable positions run. Additionally, to prevent significant losses, a fixed stop loss is implemented, providing an added layer of protection.
Visual Representation of Take Profit and Stoploss Levels
For enhanced visualization, take profit and stoploss levels are displayed on the chart. Take profit levels are depicted with green lines, providing a clear indication of potential exit points. Conversely, the trailing stop loss is presented by the red line, serving as visual cues for risk management. Visualizing indicators makes is easier to optimize settings to your liking.
Ideal Settings and Accessibility
This script is intended to be used on lower timeframe charts like 10 to 30 minutes. You can Align the MACD entry settings equal to your opened timechart or use a slightly higher timeframe. For the MA trend filters, higher timeframe settings such as 30 min, 1 hour, 4 hours, or 1 day are recommended for trading the trend.

In this post I would like to present my personal indicator for short-term strategies on cryptocurrencies called iCryptoScalper , but let me first introduce myself:
I am a theoretical physicist with a deep passion for trading and mathematical modelling of the financial markets.
I started trading cryptocurrencies more than 4 years ago and, throughout this period, I got more and more involved in trying to describe the mechanisms governing
the price action at lower timeframes like 1, 5 and 15 minutes.
As a beginner, I started with the usual "buy and hold" strategy, the safest but also boring option. Afterthat, I tried to get more involved on speed trading
and scalping and, as it happens to all the beginners, I went through many mistakes.
At the beginning, trying to find the best scalping strategy, was a very difficult task and I barely managed to perform well, mostly because every trade were overwhelmed
by my emotional approach and the fear of missing the right entry point and/or exit point. However, thanks to these difficulties, I understood that I needed
an algorithmic procedure to improve my performances and overtake the emotional approach, with a more technical approach: a mathematical guide that precisely tells me how to behave in the best way possible to be profitable.
To achieve this goal, I put all my efforts in trying to write a consistent mathematical model able to give me all the statistical informations I needed to reach
the best performances and, of course, the best possible profits.
The iCryptoScalper is an explicit mathematical tool to be used for scalping strategies and optimized for different cryptocurrency pairs on 15/30 min timeframes.
The script gives you many useful informations and details regarding the current and subsequent trade, accompanied with a detailed overview on both the last 20 short
and long trade results.
Let us have a look to all the detailed informations the script shows to you:
CHART
- Lines: The script plots for you the Entry price (yellow line), the Stop Loss price (red line) and a series of 8 Take Profit levels (green lines).
- Background: The green background color indicates that the script is in a long position, viceversa, the red background color indicates that the script is in a short position.
- Labels: The blue labels indicate the maximum achieved profit for each trade.
- Alerts: The script shows two types of alerts, the "prepare to #" one and the true entry one. The prepare alert is very useful to understand when the strategy is going
to enter a specific trade, thus giving you the possibility to set up all the necessary Entry/SL/TP levels on your favorite trading platform.
- Crosses: The green and red crosses are precisely located at the corresponding long and short entry price for the next trade, thus giving you a preview on the target price
that has to be reached for the indicator to enter. They are computed thanks to a mathematical model I set up and optimized for each cryptocurrency pair.
PANEL
- Overview: This part shows you two probability tables for the last 20 long and short trades each. The first table indicates the set of probabilities of reaching the corresponding TP level, whereas the second table shows the conditional probability , namely the probability of reaching a certain profit level once the previous one has been achieved.
Below the tables you can find three quantities again referring to the last 20 long and short trades: the Average Maximum Profit , the Average Maximum Drawdown and the Average Risk/Reward Ratio .
Last but not least, the correlation between the current asset and BTC is displayed together with the current BTC status.
- Active Trade: This part collects all the data related to the current trade status.
- Next Trade: This part collects all the data related to the next trade status.
ATTENTION!
Please notice that the equity line you see in the "Strategy Tester" section of TradingView is unreliable compared to the real performances of the script. This is due to the
fact that the TradingView engine is designed for backtesting automatic trading strategies and not real-time trading bots.
An example is the following: Bob buys 1 BTC-PERP contract at 10000$, setting the Stop Loss at 9000$. The price of the perpetual then goes to 12000$ and then go back hitting the Stop Loss. For the TradingView Engine this is a
trade with a permanent loss of 1000$. However, for the iCryptoScalper users, the trade is perfectly fine thanks to the numerous TP levels (and corresponding probabilities) given by the script within the trade window.
Overnight Gap AnalysisThere is a wide range of opinion on holding positions overnight due to gap risk. So, out of curiosity, I coded this analysis as a strategy to see what the result of only holding a position overnight on an asset would be. The results really surprised me. The script backtests 10+ years, and here are the findings:
Holding a position for 1 hour bar overnight on QQQ since January 2010 results in a 545% return. QQQ's entire return holding through the same period is 643%
The max equity drawdown on holding that position overnight is lower then the buy/hold drawdown on the underlying asset.
It doesn't matter if the last bar of the day is green or red, the results are similar.
It doesn't matter if it is a bull or bear market. Filtering the script to only trade when the price is above the 200-day moving average actually reduces its return from 545% to 301%, though it does also reduce drawdown.
I see similar patterns when applying the script to other index ETFs. Applying it to leveraged index ETFs can end up beating buy/hold of the underlying index.
Since this script holds through the 1st bar of the day, this could also speak to a day-opening price pattern
The default inputs are for the script to be applied to 1 hour charts only that have 7 bars on the chart per day. You can apply it to other chart types, but must follow the instructions below for it to work properly.
What the script is doing :
This script is buying the close of the last bar of the day and closing the trade at the close of the next bar. So, all trades are being held for 1 bar. By default, the script is setup for use on a 1hr chart that has 7 bars per day. If you try to apply it to a different timeframe, you will need to adjust the count of the last bar of the day with the script input. I.e. There are 7 bars per day on an hour chart on US Stocks/ETFs, so the input is set to 7 by default.
Other ways this script can be used :
This script can also test the result of holding a position over any 1 bar in the day using that same input. For instance, on an hour chart you can input 6 on the script input, and it will model buying the close of the 6th bar of the day while selling on the close of the next bar. I used this out of curiosity to model what only holding the last bar of the day would result in. On average, you lose money on the last bar every day.
The irony here is that the root cause of this last bar of the day losing may be people selling their positions at the end of day so that they aren't exposed to overnight gap risk.

How to output charts:
The first layer: "{Hercules/Sextan} Your Indicator Source", the output of this script is the pulse value of yellow and purple, yellow +1 means buy, purple -1 means sell.
The second layer: Hercules Backtest Framework". The output of this script is a bit complicated. After all, it is the entire trading system with a lot of information:
1. Blue and red arrows. The blue upward arrow indicates long position, the red downward arrow indicates short position, and the horizontal bar at the end of the purple arrow indicates take profit or stop loss exit.
2. Red and green lines. This is the holding cost line of the strategy, green represents the cost of holding a long position, and red represents the cost of holding a short position. The cost line is a continuous solid line and the price action is relatively close.
3. Green and yellow long take profit and stop loss area and green and yellow long take profit and stop loss fork. Once a long position is held, there is a conditional order for take profit and stop loss. The green horizontal line is the long take profit ratio line, and the yellow is the long stop loss ratio line; the green cross indicates the long take profit price, and the yellow cross indicates the long position. Because of the optimization of the algorithm, for a strong market, the take profit will occur after breaking the take profit line, and the profit will not be taken until the price falls.

TradingView Strategy Tester Panel:
The overview graph is an intuitive graph that plots the blue (gain) and red (loss) curves of all backtest periods together, and notes: the absolute value and percentage of net profit, the number of all closed positions, the winning percentage, the profit factor, The maximum trading loss, the absolute value and ratio of the average trading profit and loss, and the average number of K-lines held in all trades.

You can generate files and download the backtesting reports locally. You can also click the gear on the backtest chart interface to customize some conditions of the backtest, including: initial capital amount, currency type, percentage of each order placed, amount of pyramid additions, commission fees, slippage, etc. configuration. Note: The configuration in the interface dialog overrides the same configuration implemented by the code in the backtest script.
How to output charts:
The first layer: "{Sextan} Your Indicator Source", the output of this script is the pulse value of yellow and purple, yellow +1 means buy, purple -1 means sell.
The second layer: PINEv4 Sextans Backtest Framework". The output of this script is a bit complicated. After all, it is the entire trading system with a lot of information:
1. Blue and red arrows. The blue upward arrow indicates long position, the red downward arrow indicates short position, and the horizontal bar at the end of the purple arrow indicates take profit or stop loss exit.
2. Red and green lines. This is the holding cost line of the strategy, green represents the cost of holding a long position, and red represents the cost of holding a short position. The cost line is a continuous solid line and the price action is relatively close.
3. Green and yellow long take profit and stop loss area and green and yellow long take profit and stop loss fork. Once a long position is held, there is a conditional order for take profit and stop loss. The green horizontal line is the long take profit ratio line, and the yellow is the long stop loss ratio line; the green cross indicates the long take profit price, and the yellow cross indicates the long position. Stop loss price. It's worth noting that the prongs and wires don't necessarily go together. Because of the optimization of the algorithm, for a strong market, the take profit will occur after breaking the take profit line, and the profit will not be taken until the price falls.
4. The purple and red short take profit and stop loss area and the purple red short stop loss fork. Once a short position is held, there will be a take profit and stop loss conditional order, the red is the short take profit ratio line, and the purple is the short stop loss ratio line; the red cross indicates the short take profit price, and the purple cross indicates the short stop loss price.
5. In addition to the above signs, there are also text and numbers indicating the profit and loss values of long and short positions. "L" means long; "S" means short; "XL" means close long; "XS" means close short.
TradingView Strategy Tester Panel:
The overview graph is an intuitive graph that plots the blue (gain) and red (loss) curves of all backtest periods together, and notes: the absolute value and percentage of net profit, the number of all closed positions, the winning percentage, the profit factor, The maximum trading loss, the absolute value and ratio of the average trading profit and loss, and the average number of K-lines held in all trades.
Another is the performance summary. This is to display all long and short statistical indicators of backtesting in the form of a list, such as: net profit, gross profit, Sharpe ratio, maximum position, commission, times of profit and loss, etc.
Finally, the transaction list is a table indexed by the transaction serial number, showing the signal direction, date and time, price, profit and loss, accumulated profit and loss, maximum transaction profit, transaction loss and other values.

Here I come with another script, a nice and simple strategy based on fractals and Wavetrends.

A simple idea, on a small time frame (15 min) we buy when the opening price goes below a Bottom fractals and sell when it goes over a Top fractals, but in order to avoid bad and evil downtrends, we use Wavetrends based on a Daily time frame. From it, Tops and Bottoms are extracted. If the opening price goes above Wavetrend Tops, no trades will be conducted during the day. If the price goes below Wavetrend bottoms, no trades will be executed from 1 to N days, until a new Wavetrend bottom is generated.
I developed the strategy using BTC /EUR 15 MIN BINANCE but it can be applied to many other cryptos, I don't know for forex or others. You can use it for long term and automated trading, I implemented the Wavetrend indicator to do so, or for short term if you have spot a long coming uptrend. Test it, look at its profit and long or short period on your crypto of choice.

Wavetrends:
Red Backgrounds are associated to No Trade periods. These periods occur when the price goes below a Wavetrend bottom or above a Wavetrend Top. They are here to limit the loss.
Blue Gradient lines represent the past Tops. For each bar, only the increasing values of the Wavetrend tops are acquired. Going from light to dark blue based on the age of the Tops. Thus, if on line goes from dark to light, this means the price is approaching a previous Wavetrend top. In the opposite, if it darken, thus the price say 'buy buy' and go dropping.
Yellow Gradient lines represent the past Bottoms. They are based on the same principe that the blue lines.
Fractals:

Cava Signals Backtesting/VisualizerPLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY
Trying this again, as it seems I keep violating the rules unintentionally. Moderator, please forgive me as I try to make this right.
This backtesting/visualizer script was created for me to get a visual idea of the Cava Signals indicator throughout its development time and continuous optimization.
This script is to be used on the 30-minute timeframe on supported markets, and whether I can only publish strategies on regular candles, the indicator is meant to trigger on heikin ashi candles.I understand backtesting on non-regular candles produces unrealistic results, but I emphasize that this script is more for visualization purposes rather than accurate $ amounts from the trades. The signals are used along with a dedicated bot configuration, so part of the strategy is not managed by the script, but by the bot's config.
Some behind the scenes on what we are looking at:
a combination of ema and sma crosses on different time frames (5m, 15m, 30m, 60m and 90m) - we call this the wave trend
a combination of stochastic rsi on different time frames (10m, 30m)
a combination of schaff trend cycles on different time frames (5m, 20m and 30m)
a combination of money flow index on different time frames (10m and 30m)
volume information for each supported market/pair
and a couple of other info particular to each pair
With the above combination of data points, we try to optimize our strategy for an entry, for dca'ing down in case the coin goes down as well as dca'ing up to maximize profit when a coin is going up, take profit levels when we recognize a good time to do so, and of course, a closing level. I would like to emphasize the *visualization* purpose of this script in recognizing lows, highs, and market structure to identify the important levels to signal - this script is NOT to be used for accurate backtesting, but for an idea of the overall performance of when signals are triggered.
Let me try to explain the workflow and icons you see on the chart:
The colored circles on the bottom of the chart are all buy signals; each color corresponds to a particular buy signal, we have a combination of 9 possible situations that would trigger a buy signal. Some would trigger a buy signal only in combination with other buy signals or other indicators within the script. we also display a green upwards arrow below bars when a buy signal is triggered.
The colored arrows pointing down on the top of the chart are close signals. We have a combination of 5 closing criteria each color corresponds to one, just like the buy signals do. We only close a trade in profit. If not in profit, we will look to DCA down.
DCA signals are shown by the green flag above bars. they are signals to DCA up or down depending on the trade being negative or positive. DCA'ing up or down is also managed by the bot's configuration for limits on when to accept the signal.
Take Profit levels are shown by the green diamond above bars and work in conjunction with the bot's config on when to take the signal if at all and other take profit levels. Usually, when we hit the first take profit level we move our stop loss to entry via the bot's take profit safety feature. You can see this call with the close entry named TPS .
The black bars you may see on the chart is to illustrate when the market is extended based on a particular strategy. During this period we will not trigger a buy signal unless there is a huge spike in positive volume .
The green number below the bars is the total positive delta volume on the buy candles.

STRATEGY ENTRY RULES
LONG
When CMF is above 0 and price is under EMA. Also MACD has made a double cross above the zero line (meaning one cross down and one cross up by the MACD line). Then go long!
Note:
MACD or Signal must return under 0 in order to start a new position
If either of the MACD lines touches the 0 line before entry, we skip the trade and wait for the next signal.
SHORT
When CMF is under 0 and price is under EMA. Also MACD has made a double cross under the zero line (meaning one cross up and one cross down by the MACD line). Then go short!
Note:
MACD or Signal must return under 0 in order to start a new position.
If either of the MACD lines touches the 0 line before entry, we skip the trade and wait for the next signal.
TAKE PROFIT
When price hits the exit price (calculated from stop loss with the risk ratio), then exit with 50% of the position. The other 50% will stay open until the price hits the supertrend or the base stop loss.
STOP LOSS
When price hits stop loss then exit the position. Stop loss is calculated from the Supertrend and it is a trailing one, meaning it changes based on the movement of the price.
QUANTITY TO BUY
The quantity to buy is based on the Risk Per Trade % attribute. This means that we can set how much money we want to risk on one trade. Meaning that if we lose that particular position, then a Risk Per Trade % value of our equity will be lost.
Example: if you set the Risk Per Trade % to 1 % and you have a 100$ account balance, then if you loose the trade you will loose 1$ max.
ELLIPSE: Bidirectional Swing Trading Strategy (Strategy Version)The eternal question that has occupied humanity since its early existence is what is the meaning of life and why am I here? On a daily basis this quest for meaning is distilled into a somewhat simpler question: What is the reason for getting up every morning?
For many of us, these thoughts arise even more as autumn arrives and it gets dark, bleak and cold outside. I guess it is easier to forget about the meaning of your life, while swimming on a sandy beach, enjoying a cocktail. Than you are living you life and you don’t need to rationalize it. Everything makes perfect sense!
In winter however, you need to get more “creative”. I, for example, would always try to change my perspective of things by doing something that makes my heart beat faster, like drinking a bottle of Heineken on a Friday evening or having endless conversations with my mates about stupid things, or kicking a ball against BALLONTHEROOF 7 on a Saturday morning. During the week, I would take out my frustrations on the fitness equipment at the local gym.
But what if all of this is canceled by CORONA? All that’s left is to work for the boss and run your 10km lap twice a week. The question is, what do you do now, with this huge amount of ”free” time than any old person would give anything for. When you are young time is never ending, when you are older it is never enough. Time has reached a different dimension in these days.
However, you can still do 2 things. You can slowly let the walls come to you and give up or you can actually do something useful with your time and find something that you are good at.
For us this choice was easy. After the success of our positioning trading strategy the MATRIX, at the time of the corona lockdown, we started making a swing trading strategy for the 4H timeframe, called ELLIPSE. We have included all feedback and any improvements we received about the positioning strategy and integrated it into the 4H script.
The main requirements of the script that we had set ourselves were:

User Guidelines:
The trading strategy was designed and optimized for trading cryptocurrencies only; furthermore it works best on established cryptocurrencies that have a clear historical trend such as:

Dragon Bot - Default ScriptDragon Script is a framework to make it as easy as possible to test your own strategies and set alerts for external execution bots.
The script has many features build in, like:
1) A ping/pong mechanism between longs and shorts
2) A stop-loss
3) Trailing Stops with several ways to calculate them.
4) 2 different ways to flip from long to short.
The script is divided into several parts.
The first part of the script is used to set all the variables. You should normally never change the first part except for the comments at the top.
The second part of the script is the part where you initialise all your indicators. Several indicators can be found on Tradingview and on other sites. Please keep in mind that all the variable names used in the indicator should be unique. (all the … = … parts)
The third part of the script, is the most important part of the script. Here you can create the entry and exit points.
Let’s look at the OPENLONG function to explain this part: The first variables are all the possible entries; These are longentry1 till longentry5. You can add many more if you like.
The variables are all initialised as being false. This way the script can set a value to true if an entry happens.
The if function is the actual logic: You could say “if this is true” then (the line below the if function) longentry1 := (becomes) true.
In this case we have said: “if this is true” then (the line below the if function) longentry1 := (becomes) true when the current close is larger than the close that is 1 back.
The last part is the makelong_funct. This part says that if any of the entries are true, the whole function is true.
The last part of the script is the actual execution. Here the alerts are plotted and the back test strategies are opened and closed.
